Position Announcement

Scion Technical Search has been retained to conduct a search for a Senior IT Project Lead on behalf of Washington Education Association (WEA), a successful and truly impactful union working to make public education the best it can be for Washington students, staff, and communities. This position leads strategic IT project management to navigate change management across the organization and ensure successful adoption and impact of new IT systems, processes, and technologies. The Senior IT Project Lead will work to provide exceptional IT internal project management with an internal customer centered approach to bring teams buy in and participation in new IT project and support internal collaboration under the direction of the Director of Human Resources and IT. This opportunity is for immediate hire and works full-time onsite in WEA’s open and spacious headquarter office in Federal Way, WA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior IT Project Lead will play a key role in planning, creating, tracking and guiding new technology implementations, integrations, systems and projects within WEA’s IT Department including but not limited to defining the scope, budget, deliverables, and design to best support overall organizational impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategizing and defining new initiatives and projects within WEA’s IT department.
  • Working across departments representing the IT team and providing strategic IT support and hands-on project management for organization wide technology improvements, system adoption and processes.
  • Explaining the value of technology and system improvements to a diverse audience while listening to the needs of interdepartmental staff and exercising tact to build support for internal collaboration and IT projects.
  • Assessing technical needs of the organization and serving as a Lead in the department creating, tracking and driving plans for implementing new organizational technology opportunities to fulfill the mission of the organization.
  • Analyzing and documenting current technical project processes and workflow to determine effective strategies for continuous improvement within the established IT budget.
  • Creating a two-year strategic plan for organizational full adoption of cloud utilization, and overseeing the execution, project management and budgets for this work.
  • Building a new system for tracking professional development, certifications and other systems that benefit union membership though technology improvements.
  • Organizing and or leading trainings as needed to educate end users on various IT and business applications.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and implementing systems within WEA’s technical environment including Microsoft Systems, A/V tools, databases, and CRMs.
  • Prioritizing needs of WEA’s technical environment and designing projects to address these issues.
  • Ensuring organizational internal efforts are on track with regards to short-term and long-term technology goals through a supportive and collaborative approach.
  • Utilizing assertiveness balanced with tact and empathy and an unceasing desire to fulfill the objectives of the role.
  • Continuing to elevate the reputation of the IT department within the organization and provide exceptional strategic support and planning to advance the mission of the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for the mission of WEA, supporting union values and an appreciation for the societal, civic, and cultural importance of public education.
  • An understanding and appreciation for the societal, civic, and cultural importance of public education.
  • A commitment to advancing racial and social justice in addition to advocating on behalf of historically underrepresented groups of people and communities.
  • Proven experience in senior level IT project management successfully addressing organization-wide objectives goals.
  • Prior experience creating a strategic IT project plans and managing budgets. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to effectively lead through influence and not reporting relationships.
  • An interest in inspiring, listen to, and taking direction from a diverse team of professionals to accomplish WEA IT goals and objectives.
  • Prior experience and or interest in leading projects utilizing the following technologies:
    • Office 365 and the ability to create and maintain user accounts
    • SQL
    • Tableau and or Laserfiche or related CRMS
  • A high level of understanding in IT systems with the ability to solve complex issues.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, IT Management, Information Systems Management or related field. If currently pursuing a degree, a goal of completing this degree within the next three years should be in place.
  • An interest in obtaining or holding an IT Professional Certification such as CCNA, ITIL, MCITP, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS, RHCE and Microsoft 365/Modern Desktop Administrator Associate within your first three months of employment.
  • Willingness and the ability to travel within Washington State as needed in addition to the ability to obtain a valid Washington State Driver’s License, a current satisfactory driving record and proof of dependable automobile insurance.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This wonderful, full-time onsite opportunity offers a generous compensation, benefit and pension plus the ability to make significant impact on behalf of Washington educators and the state community. This exciting role offers a competitive starting base salary, $106,120 - $151,368 depending on your experience,  pension, plus full benefits plan and retirement package. Benefits include a comprehensive group health insurance package paid for individual and family (medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, and life insurance); 401(k) plan in which the organization invests 8% in addition to your base salary; 25 days of vacation to start and generous paid time off provisions; 18 paid holidays; Short and Long Term disability, employee life, and AD&D insurance; and other perks.
